V Marie's Heart, Inc.

Restoring Hope. Strengthening Families. Building Communities.

Life's Challenges Rarely Happen One at a Time.

Families often face a lot of challenges, like finding a place to live, dealing with money problems, taking care of someone, feeling overwhelmed, or not knowing where to turn for help. Meanwhile, young people might need someone to guide them, learn new things, get motivated, or get ready for what's ahead. And sometimes, all a caregiver needs is to have the right information and someone to connect them with the support that's already out there.

V Marie’s Heart brings people, education, resources, professional knowledge, and community partnerships together to help individuals and families identify practical next steps toward greater stability, wellness, connection, and opportunity.

We help people in Alabama through local programs by guiding them to the right resources, teaching them new things, and working with others. We also provide training for professionals and help with funding when we can. The areas we serve differ depending on the specific program.

V Marie’s Heart, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to turning compassion into practical community support.

Stronger Communities Begin With Access to Support

When someone is already managing a difficult situation, finding help can sometimes feel like another challenge.

Finding the right resources can be tough because they are often scattered across different organizations. It's not always clear who is eligible for what, and programs can change suddenly. This can leave families feeling confused and unsure about where to start or which organization is the best fit for them. They might feel overwhelmed and not know how to navigate the system to get the help they need.

V Marie’s Heart helps make those pathways easier to understand.

Our work recognizes that people’s needs are often connected.

Housing can affect mental wellness.

Caregiving can affect employment, finances, and family life.

Education can influence workforce opportunity and long-term stability.

Mental wellness can affect nearly every part of daily life.

Professional development can strengthen the quality of support available throughout a community.

These needs may seem different, but in reality, they are usually linked to each other in some way.

V Marie’s Heart was created to help bring people, resources, education, professionals, volunteers, funders, and community partners together so individuals and families have more opportunities to move forward.

We can't be everything to everyone; that's just not our goal.

Our goal is to help people connect with practical support, useful information, meaningful opportunities, and trusted community relationships.

Our Approach

Where Compassion Meets Action

Kindness is the core of what V Marie's Heart is all about.

When we actually do something to help, that's when being kind really matters.

We also recognize our limits.

V Marie’s Heart cannot meet every need alone, and not every program is available at all times.

That's why working together is at the heart of what we do.

We seek to build relationships with schools, businesses, healthcare professionals, behavioral health providers, housing organizations, educators, volunteers, sponsors, foundations, nonprofit organizations, faith communities, and community leaders who share a commitment to improving quality of life.

Together, these relationships can create clearer pathways between people who need support and the resources, education, and opportunities available to help them.

Depending on the program or initiative, our work may include:

  • Community Education
  • Resource navigation
  • Referrals
  • Family support
  • Caregiver support
  • Community outreach
  • Workshops
  • Volunteer service
  • Mentoring
  • Financial-literacy education
  • Workforce preparation
  • Housing-related education
  • Professional development
  • Community partnerships
  • Developing assistance programs

Clear Information Matters

V Marie’s Heart is growing, and our programs may be at different stages of development.

We believe people should be able to tell the difference between what is available now and what we are still working to build.

Available Now

Programs, workshops, resources, services, or support currently being offered.

Current work includes family and caregiver support, funding-dependent community assistance and grants, community outreach, mental-wellness education, resource navigation, educational activities, professional development, and community partnerships.

In Development

Programs that have been approved for development but are not yet fully available.

Developing work includes expanded caregiver initiatives, housing-stability and community-development projects, independent-living concepts, expanded education/workforce programs, and the Behavioral Health Leadership Institute.

Future Vision

Longer-term initiatives that may require additional funding, partnerships, staffing, facilities, licensing, or other organizational capacity.

We'll start new projects only when we have the money, partners, staff, and systems in place to make them work. We'll let everyone know when a new program is ready to go.

Our Five Pillars of Service

Five Areas of Service. One Commitment to Stronger Communities.

V Marie’s Heart organizes its work around five connected pillars.

Each part of the plan focuses on a different thing that the community needs, and they all work together to help people, families, and communities become stronger.

Community & Family Support

Helping People Find Resources, Support, and Connection

Families and caregivers often carry several responsibilities at once.

Our Community & Family Support work is designed to help people understand available resources, connect with community support, and identify practical next steps.

Depending on current program availability, this may include caregiver support, family resources, community navigation, referrals, outreach, assistance programs, and volunteer-led initiatives.

Housing Stability & Community Development

Supporting More Stable Homes and Stronger Neighborhoods

Housing affects much more than where someone lives.

It can influence wellness, employment, education, safety, family life, transportation, and a person’s ability to plan for the future.

Our housing and community-development work may include education, resource navigation, homeownership preparation, independent-living initiatives, affordable-housing partnerships, and neighborhood-development projects.

Mental Wellness

Connecting Education, Awareness, and Community Support

Mental wellness affects how people live, learn, work, care for others, and participate in their communities.

V Marie’s Heart supports mental wellness through education, awareness, prevention information, resource navigation, referrals, workshops, advocacy, and community collaboration.

Community education and referral services are not presented as a substitute for licensed medical or behavioral-health care.

Education & Workforce Development

Helping People Prepare for What Comes Next

Learning, practical skills, mentorship, financial knowledge, leadership, and workforce preparation can create meaningful opportunities.

Our education and workforce initiatives may include mentoring, financial literacy, educational enrichment, leadership development, workforce readiness, and scholarships when funding is available.

Behavioral Health Professional Development

Supporting the Professionals Who Support Our Communities

Strong communities also depend on informed, ethical, skilled, and connected professionals.

V Marie’s Heart supports behavioral health professionals through professional education, networking, collaboration, leadership development, student support, and approved training opportunities when available.

Why The Five Pillars Work Together

People’s Lives Are Connected

A person’s needs rarely exist in isolation.

  • Housing can affect mental wellness.
  • Education can affect employment and financial stability.
  • Caregiving can affect emotional well-being, income, and family responsibilities.
  • Professional training can strengthen the quality of support available to individuals and families.
  • Community development can influence access to resources, services, and opportunity.

The five-pillar model allows V Marie’s Heart to recognize those connections while creating clear areas of service.

It helps us look beyond one immediate challenge and consider the broader support that may help a person, family, professional, or community move toward greater stability.

A Legacy of Compassion That Continues to Serve

V Marie's Heart was started by Artica Jenkins to remember her mom, Vonderia Marie Jenkins.

Vonderia was known for her compassion, humanitarian spirit, and commitment to helping children, families, and underserved individuals.

Her example helped shape Artica’s understanding of service, advocacy, mental wellness, and community responsibility.

When Vonderia died in2016 from heart problems at just 53 years old, the things she believed in and lived by kept on inspiring others to work towards a bigger goal.

Today, V Marie's Heart is keeping that legacy alive by turning compassion into real support, education, and connections that bring people together and inspire community action, creating opportunities for everyone.

Why Support V Marie's Heart?

Community Needs Are Connected. Support Should Be Too.

A family experiencing housing instability may also be managing financial pressure, emotional stress, caregiving responsibilities, transportation challenges, or difficulty finding available resources.

A young person may need more than one kind of opportunity to prepare for the future.

A caregiver may need both practical information and community support.

V Marie’s Heart responds to those connections through five areas of service rather than treating every challenge as an isolated issue.

Our role is to bring together practical support, education, resource connection, professional knowledge, volunteers, funders, and community partners so people can access clearer pathways forward.

Your support helps strengthen the programs, relationships, and organizational capacity behind that work.

"Your support helps strengthen the programs, relationships, and organizational capacity behind that work."

Community Collaboration

Stronger Communities Are Built Together

No single group has all the resources, answers, or specialized knowledge they need.

Meaningful community progress often happens when people with different skills, resources, and experiences work toward a shared goal.

Partnerships may support education, referrals, outreach, training, scholarships, housing initiatives, sponsorships, community events, professional development, volunteer service, or program development.

V Marie’s Heart welcomes collaboration with:

  • Businesses
  • Schools
  • Healthcare providers
  • Behavioral health professionals
  • Faith communities
  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Housing organizations
  • Educators
  • Community leaders
  • Professional associations
  • Foundations
  • Corporate sponsors
  • Volunteers
  • Donors
